The Company

Dirt Doctors (www.dirtdoctorsnh.com), is a leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of sustainable natural resource products including mulch, compost, loam and specialty spoils. Operating from three locations in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the company also supplies decorative hardscapes, treated salts and other high-quality landscape supplies to the commercial landscape industry.

The Challenge

Keith Anastasy founded Dirt Doctors in 1989 and led the company as CEO in day-to-day operations. “After starting and growing the business for the last 20 years,” commented Keith, “I thought it made sense to seek additional resources to help continue our growth and expansion.” Keith consulted his advisors and in February of 2019, formally engaged Peloton Advisory to assist him in finding the next best investor and partner to help take his passionately built business to the next step. Dirt Doctors was known regionally as a leader in excellent natural resource products, combined with the family-office culture focused on customer service and creative solutions.

The Solution

After a competitive process spanning 8 months, Dirt Doctors was acquired by SiteOne Landscape Supply (NYSE: SITE). SiteOne is the largest and only national distributor of landscape supplies in the United States, with a growing presence in Canada. They specialize in the design, installation, and maintenance of lawns, gardens, golf courses and other outdoor spaces (https://www.siteone.com/). The partnership between Dirt Doctors and SiteOne was a natural fit, as Dirt Doctors’ product lines of softscapes, hardscapes, and natural stones fit well within SiteOne’s extensive commercial landscaping supplies including, irrigation and design services.  Doug Black, Chairman and CEO of SiteOne commented on the acquisition, “This addition aligns with our mission to be the best full-line distributor to landscape professionals in all major U.S. and Canadian markets.”

Keith has continued leading the Dirt Doctors brand within SiteOne and is now able to leverage the resources of one of the largest landscape supply distributors in the world while maintaining its culture and workforce in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
